High-viscosity filling line

All guides

A filling line for thick liquids. Filling, capping, sealing, and coding are selected to the liquid and container. The line is quoted as a complete system.

How to configure a high-viscosity filling line

A line for thick products such as honey, sesame paste, sauces, or laundry detergent is assembled from separate machines on one conveyor. Each station is chosen for the liquid and the container, and MARVISCO quotes the whole line as one scope. A typical order of stations:

  1. Filling. Weighing fillers control the fill by weight. The automatic weighing filler has a number of heads set to the output you need; the semi-automatic 2-head version is loaded and unloaded by an operator. A rotor pump filler transfers the product by rotor pump and works with round or square containers. The guide on choosing between weighing and rotor pump fillers compares them.
  2. Cap feeding. A cap elevator lifts, sorts, and delivers caps so the capper always has caps ready. One elevator is built for one cap size.
  3. Capping. A four-wheel capper handles spray heads, pump heads, round caps, and duck-bill caps. A single-head servo capper screws on one screw cap at a time.
  4. Induction sealing. For a leak-proof, tamper-evident seal, an induction sealer bonds the foil liner in the cap to the container mouth. The inline sealer works on the moving conveyor; the foil sealer works in cycles.
  5. Labeling. An automatic labeling machine applies self-adhesive labels to round and flat bottles.
  6. Coding. A continuous inkjet printer or a laser marking machine adds the date, batch, or other code.

What decides the configuration

Product viscosity, container, cap, fill volume, and required output decide which machines are included and how many filling heads are used. Not every line needs every station: a product without a foil seal can leave out the sealer, and a semi-automatic filler may be enough for a small output. Viscosity often changes with temperature, so describe the product at the temperature it will be filled.
