A laser marker etches codes onto containers without ink. It is used for permanent marking. The laser type is selected to the substrate.
The laser beam is steered by mirrors and marks the surface by changing or removing a very thin layer. No ink or solvent is used, and the mark is permanent.
The laser type is selected to the material. Fiber lasers mark metals and most non-metals. CO2 lasers mark non-metals. The product page lists flying fiber, flying UV, flying CO2, static fiber and static CO2 types, and the type is confirmed with samples.
Flying types mark products while they move on the conveyor. Static types mark products that are held still. Choose by how the product is presented to the marker on your line.
Dates, batch numbers, codes and logos on bottles, caps, cartons and other packaging. Dimensions, weight and laser power for each type are listed in the specifications on the product page. The material decides the laser type.
A continuous inkjet printer uses ink and suits many packaging materials. A laser marker needs no ink and gives a permanent mark. Both are covered in their own guides. Choose by the packaging material and whether the mark must be permanent.
Send the product and its material, what must be marked, whether the product is moving or still, the line speed and the site. Other requirements are confirmed on the written quotation.
